KissDuring the production of Notorious (1946), Alfred Hitchcock arranged for Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman to engage in a kissing scene which lasted much longer than the three seconds permitted by Joseph Breen's Production Code Office; Bergman and Grant kiss for three seconds, talk briefly, resume kissing, lean away for a moment, kiss again, nibble on one another's ears, and continue kissing...
In the theater, the scene played as a sensational prolonged kiss. But, because the couple never kissed for more than three seconds, the censors were required to allow it.
