Eleanora Duse: Doozy"[The writer and politician Gabriele] D'Annunzio kept telling Eleanora Duse how pretty a certain Madame le Bargy was. They were staying in the same place and, one lunch time, Duse appeared at the table, picked up Madam le Bargy, carried her off down the corridor, opened the door of her room and hurled her onto the bed, shouting to D'Annunzio, 'There you are. You love her, so there she is!' Then she double-locked the door and left the pair. D'Annunzio commented, 'Our friend is mad.'
"The other members of the lunch party had to release the couple with a ladder."
