Chris "Time Out" Webber

In April 1993, future Sacramento Kings star forward Chris Webber and his University of Michigan teammates returned to the NCAA national championship after losing in 1992. With 11 seconds left in the game and Michigan well-positioned to tie or go ahead, Webber called a time-out - a good idea, but for one small problem: Michigan had no time-outs left. North Carolina promptly sank two technical foul shots, and Michigan lost the championship. Again.

[The self-deprecating Webber bought "Time Out" vanity license plates and founded the "Time Out" Foundation for disadvantaged children.]

[Trivia: George Carlin once suggested changing some NBA rules to make basketball more interesting. 50 points, for example, would be awarded for any shot which goes in after bouncing off an opponent's head!]
