Pink: Natural Rebel

Four months after signing with LaFace in 1996, Pink (who often hung out with street people and once lived in a three-bedroom apartment in Philadelphia with 17 other people) was asked by her new label to take media-coaching and etiquette classes. After five minutes, the media coach announced that Pink was hopeless and walked out. And the etiquette classes? "I turned them down," Pink recalled. "I told the label it was an insult to my mother, and they should call her and apologize."

[Pink once brought her mother to the Grammys and was amused to hear her singing along with the line "Mama was a lunatic/She liked to push my buttons" in the car.]
