Long Silence?

Fernandel once visited a new barbershop. Having finished his handiwork, the barber - clearly anxious to please his famous client - produced a mirror and held it with a flourish behind the comedian's head.

Fernandel studied the result, smiled his trademark toothy smile, and requested one change: "Just a little longer at the back, please."

Fernandel [born Fernand Joseph Desire Contandin], (1903-1971) French comedian [noted for his role as Don Camille in several films in which an Italian priest matches wits with a Communist mayor]
