Chuck Berry's Potty CamChuck Berry once opened a restaurant called the Southern Air in Missouri. According to a former waitress, Berry wired the women's lavatory with a video camera and recorded some 200 unsuspecting patrons using the toilet, among them three minors.
Though the state attorney general intervened, charges were dropped when Berry agreed to compensate the victims of his "potty cam" financially.
Berry's brush with the law, however, did not stop him from making underground videos, some of which found a wide circulation. One notorious clip showed Berry relieving himself on a young woman. When she asked Berry to kiss her, he refused. "You," he explained, "smell like piss."
[Berry served several jail terms, among them one for armed robbery (in the 1940s), one for transporting a minor across state lines for immoral purposes (1960s), and one for tax evasion (1970s). Singalongs of "My Ding-a-ling" were popular with fellow prisoners' children during visiting hours.]
