Soviet Disunion? In 1962, with two Oscar nominations and an Emmy in two years, the previously little-known Falk made a curious choice for his third film: a movie shot in the Soviet Union. The filming got off to a shaky start, when the Italian director refused to use Falk in his designated role. The explanation? "They hired me off an 8x10 glossy," Falk recalled. "They thought they were getting Sal Mineo!"
["The director got what he wanted: a 'bambino,'" Falk recalled. And Falk? He was given another role.]
[Trivia: What would Falk rather do than go to a party? "Stay home and practice my hobby." The hobby? "I draw naked women."]
