Gee Spot?In 2002, CNN aired an advertising spot promoting Paula Zahn's morning news show: "Where can you find a morning news anchor who's provocative, fucking-smart and oh, yeah, just a little sexy?" the ad mused. "CNN, yeah, CNN."
Zahn, while pleased to see the words "provocative" and "smart" appear on the screen followed by her picture, was rather less pleased to see the word "sexy" appear - immediately preceded by the sound of a zipper being opened!
[The 15-second slot was aired about a dozen times before being pulled. CNN said the promotion, created by a woman in its promotions department, had not been approved by top executives.]
[Trivia: In 2002, CNN Headline News began adding such slang terms as "bling bling," "flava," and "jimmy hat" to its headlines in a bid to attract younger viewers. An internal memo advised employees to consult a slang dictionary "to help all you homeys and honeys add a new flava to your tickers and deckos [headlines]."]
