Steve Spurrier: Auburn

While serving as head coach of the University of Florida Gators, Steve Spurrier informed fans that twenty books had been destroyed in a fire at Auburn University's football dorm. "But the real tragedy," he declared, "was that fifteen hadn't been colored yet!"

[Spurrier also gave speeches all over the state to Gator booster clubs. They roared when he described his rival F.S.U. as "Free Shoes University," after a local shoe store gave the team's players free cleats.]

[Trivia: In 2003, the University of Florida Gators accidentally published a guide with a crocodile on the cover!]
