AretinoWhile laughing at a remark made by the Duke of Urbino, Aretino had a stroke and collapsed. A priest was called upon to administer extreme unction but, the rite completed, Aretino briefly recovered. "Now I'm oiled," he quipped, "keep me from the rats." He then relapsed into unconsciousness and promptly died.
